President of the Evergreen Teachers’ Association and
Member-at-Large of the Provincial Executive of The Manitoba Teachers’ Society
Official Election Statement
Member-at-Large for the Provincial Executive of The Manitoba Teachers’ Society
Silence is never a democracy, and it is the place of a union, and especially, its Executive, to be a conduit of the Membership to share their collective voices forward.
I continue to emphasize the importance the Society plays in not only safeguarding the positive gains we have made over the past century, but also in improving upon the working rights of our 16,600+ Members.
We have survived much over the past few years, ranging from Bill 35, many years of cuts to education funding, ongoing campaigns of hate disguised as “parental rights”, and not to mention an “echo pandemic” that continues to adversely affect our students, our members, and our wider communities.
Our voices must remain strong in expressing our beliefs regarding these issues; ensuring that our plans continually evolve forward with consistent, proactive communication both within our Membership, and outward to all of Manitoba.
This is done through transparency, ongoing and direct engagement with our members, and formative communication with government.
I believe that unionism begins, relies upon, resolves, and renews with Membership voice.
In closing: It is incumbent upon a strong Provincial Executive to represent this Provincial Council when it is not in session. This is done through accurate representation of membership voice at the table, so that you, the Membership can be communicated forward with acoustic quality, and may resonate amongst educational partners, throughout our communities, and with all teachers of Manitoba.

“The rights, conditions, and overall equity of Manitoba Teachers’ Society members can be met with unity and solidarity.”
